Biggs Powell has enjoyed fast success since
opening Biggs Powell Interior Design & Antiques in
December 2002 in a restored Victorian clapboard in
midtown Memphis. His designs and shop have appeared in
such publications as Veranda, Southern Accents and
Memphis Magazine, and House Beautiful recently
selected Powell as one of "America's Top Young
Designers" (September 2003).
Powell graduated from the University of
Mississippi in 1994 receiving a bachelor of arts in history and
earned a second degree in interior design from the
American College of Art in Atlanta before moving back
to his native Memphis.
Powell's design projects range from the classics to 20th-Century
modern to a mixture of everything in between.
A common objective with every project is to blend a
sense of ease and sophistication. His philosophy is
simple: "attention to detail, a firm grasp of color,
proportion, and balance, and most importantly function
and comfort. What is appropriate for the client and
the space comes first. The approach and style of a
project will naturally develop as a result."
Biggs Powell Interior Design & Antiques is open by appointment.
